Quick Answers

Identity-based segmentation is essentially a network upgrade wherein each workload can be empowered to detect, prevent and contain threats. It strengthens the overall risk posture of the network. The concept adds granularity to the earlier widely adopted technique of network segmentation. The complexity arises in identifying the right-fit product for embarking on this journey and the challenges in adopting and managing it. Most identity-based segmentation technologies have features to address the distinct needs of east-west traffic. These features include AI/ML-based policy automation, flexibility of workload movement, context-based policies, and granularity.
